Accra: The SAMGLOKUSH Foundation in the Ketu South Municipality has organised the second edition of its BECE Success Summit, bringing together more than 500 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to prepare them mentally and practically for their transition to Senior High School (SHS).
According to Ghana News Agency, the summit was held at the Pentecostal Revival Centre of the Assemblies of God Church, Aflao, under the theme: 'Think Right, Act Right and Succeed - Building Habits for a Successful Future.' The initiative aimed to broaden the graduates' understanding of success beyond academic certificates by encouraging positive thinking, creativity, discipline, confidence, and purposeful living.
The programme witnessed participation from the graduates and 60 parents, featuring seven speakers who conducted interactive sessions on personal development and the habits necessary for a successful SHS experience. Reverend James Solaga, the Lead Pastor of Kingdom Light Chapel, addressed the students on the importance of a growth mindset and encouraged them to foster positive attitudes and environments.
Dr Elliott Agbenorwu, a former Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive, emphasized strategic planning and discipline, while Mr Divine Kporha, the Volta and Oti Regional Director of HeFRA, urged the students to maintain curiosity and give their best efforts. Mr Giddalt Kunakey, CEO of Genius Link, challenged the students to develop solution-oriented thinking by tackling community challenges.
Reverend David Kporha, Resident Pastor of the Assemblies of God, Pentecostal Revival Centre, spoke about confidence and resilience, reminding graduates that setbacks are part of the journey and should not deter their goals. Rev Godwin Debrah concluded the sessions by focusing on purpose and personal leadership.
The collective message from the speakers encouraged graduates to develop habits that support both academic progress and personal growth as they enter this new phase of education. Some graduates expressed satisfaction in interviews with the Ghana News Agency, feeling equipped with knowledge and confidence for their SHS transition.
Parents who attended also praised the initiative, committing to support their children in developing positive habits and applying the lessons from the summit. They called for ongoing support from stakeholders for educational initiatives that prepare young people not only academically but also mentally and socially for the future.
The summit concluded with a call to graduates to apply their newfound lessons by thinking positively, making responsible decisions, and remaining consistent in pursuing their goals.
