Russia Launches Major Ballistic Missile Attack on Kiev

Accra: Russia launched a major overnight ballistic missile attack on the Ukrainian capital Kiev, with more than two dozen missiles fired at targets in and around the city, Ukraine's air force said early on Sunday. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram that strikes and damage were observed in several districts, resulting in fires. At least seven people were reported injured.

According to Ghana News Agency, dozens of explosions, including those from air defence systems, were heard across the centre of the city, as confirmed by a reporter at the scene. Ukraine has been engaged in conflict with Russia's full-scale invasion for more than four years. Kiev has repeatedly expressed concerns over its diminishing stocks of interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defence systems, vital for protection against ballistic missile attacks.
