Moscow: Russia and Egypt have reached an agreement to enhance their collaboration in combating international terrorism and addressing other security challenges, as announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to Ghana News Agency, the agreement was made during a meeting of the Russian-Egyptian working group on countering terrorism. The Russian Federation and the Arab Republic of Egypt committed to expanding their interaction in counter-terrorism efforts bilaterally and on major international platforms.
Discussions between Moscow and Cairo also included an exchange of views on global and regional terrorist threats, particularly in regions such as Afghanistan, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa. Both countries shared their national expertise in counter-terrorism strategies.
The meeting also covered a range of issues related to international cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism, including the integration of new technologies. A specific emphasis was placed on the challenge of terrorism financing.
The meeting, which was the fifth of its kind, took place in Moscow with representatives from both countries' competent agencies. It was co-chaired by the Russian and Egyptian foreign ministries.
