Accra: Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Productions, Robert Klah, has addressed concerns over sound challenges experienced during the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards. He stated that the issue represented only a small portion of the overall production.
According to Ghana Web, Klah, during an interview on Hitz FM on May 14, 2026, explained that the sound quality varied depending on how audiences consumed the event, whether inside the auditorium, on DStv, TV3, or through online streaming platforms. He remarked that while the sound in the auditorium was satisfactory for the most part, there were some discrepancies on television platforms like DSTV and TV3.
Klah mentioned that feedback received so far suggests that most of the complaints were linked to what viewers experienced online rather than what was heard live at the venue. He noted that discussions are underway to better understand these issues.
Robert Klah highlighted that the technical team had indicated the audio feed was delivered uniformly to all broadcast partners, raising questions about what may have happened after the signal left the sound console. This has sparked an investigation into the post-console transmission process.
He emphasized the critical importance of sound in music events, acknowledging that even minor technical issues can attract significant attention. Klah noted that previous events, such as the nominees announcement and the Experience Concert, did not encounter similar challenges, making the final night's issues unexpected. Despite this, he expressed relief that the sound issues constituted less than 5% of the overall experience.
