Accra: The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has issued a two-month ultimatum to Delovely Construction Ltd to expedite work on the Bediako Junction-Sefwi Adabokrom road project in the Western North Region. The directive comes amid growing concerns over significant delays, as progress reportedly falls far below expectations. During a visit to the project site, he criticised the slow pace of work.
According to Ghana Web, the contractor should have achieved close to 20 percent completion by now, but less than two percent of the work has been done, despite taking possession of the site about five months ago. The Minister has made it clear that the contractor has two months to improve progress to over 20 percent or face termination of the project.
Kwame Agbodza emphasised the strategic importance of the road, describing it as a critical corridor that supports agriculture and the livelihoods of communities along the route. He highlighted the president's vision to enhance the road to uplift communities from poverty and give meaning to their activities.
The Minister warned that if the contractor fails to meet the target within two months, the contract would be reassigned without further discussions. Despite the setback, he assured residents that the government remains committed to completing the project by November 30, 2027, as part of the Big Push Infrastructure Programme.
