Accra: Messrs Dame and Partners, lawyers for Joana Quaye, the estranged wife of Bills Microcredit CEO Richard Nii Armah Quaye, have directly challenged the businessman's claims of pre-marital wealth made during a recent interview on The Delay Show.
According to Ghana Web, the firm stated that RNAQ was unemployed and owned none of his current properties at the time of their marriage in 2010. This claim is part of a press release issued on Monday, April 27, 2026, by Messrs Dame and Partners, a law firm led by former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame. The release was in response to statements RNAQ made during his appearance on the show.
The statement highlighted public records, referencing proceedings from the High Court in Accra dated March 13, 2024, noting, "The fact of the marriage between the parties in 2010, soon after Richard Quaye's return from a short stay in the United Kingdom in 2009, at a time when he was unemployed and had none of the properties he owns now, is a matter of public record." During the interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso, RNAQ had dismissed claims that he was 'broke' before marrying Joana, asserting that he was already working, had started his business, and was financially capable of funding their wedding.
However, Dame and Partners refuted RNAQ's assertions about his financial status before marriage, describing his mention of owning a 'VW Passat' as nothing more than a 'mere publicity stunt.' The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard RNAQ's claims of being wealthy before marriage, labeling them as 'wild and unfounded.'
