Accra: The Head Pastor of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah, has asserted that he played a pivotal spiritual role in the 2020 Ghanaian general elections, allegedly swaying the results in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His claims have stirred discussions regarding the intersection of faith and politics in the country.
According to Ghana Web, Rev Owusu Bempah revealed in a TikTok video that initial election results showed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the lead, which conflicted with his earlier prophecy predicting an NPP victory. Concerns arose among his followers and associates, worried about potential public backlash if his prophecy did not materialize. Rev Bempah recounted that he received calls from worried members, prompting him to take undisclosed spiritual actions.
Rev Bempah detailed how an associate from Kumasi expressed similar anxieties, leading him to engage in a spiritual intervention. He claimed that after these actions, he prophesied a rainfall in Kumasi, which was reportedly followed by heavy rains and a shift in the election figures. He stated that the rain marked a turning point, altering the outcome in favor of the NPP.
The pastor reiterated that his earlier prophecy regarding the NPP securing 51% of the votes was fulfilled after the election results were announced. In the 2020 presidential election, the NPP, led by then-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, garnered 6,730,587 votes, equating to 51.30% of the total, while the NDC, led by John Dramani Mahama, received 6,213,182 votes, representing 47.36%.
