Accra: General Overseer of the Anointed Palace Chapel, Rev Isaac Kwaku Antwi, popularly known as Rev Obofour, has addressed ongoing social media allegations of domestic abuse in his marriage to Queen Ciara. Recently, some individuals accused Rev Obofour of beating his wife to the point of being hospitalised.
According to Ghana Web, responding to the claims while preaching to his congregation, Rev Obofour strongly denied the allegations. He explained that his wife, Queen Ciara, had an accident while cleaning their bathroom floor. "I was with some of my junior pastors in my house at Spintex when I heard mommy shouting in the bathroom. She was cut by one of the metal hooks we use to hang our towels. When we got there, she was bleeding, so we had to take her to the hospital," he narrated. Rev Obofour questioned the motives behind the fabricated story, emphasizing that he was not involved and was with four people in his hall when the incident occurred.
Rev Obofour also addressed another wave of criticism on social media. The criticism came from supporters of the late musician Lumba's first wife, Akosua Serwaa, who took issue with comments he made regarding controversies surrounding the singer's death. Rev Obofour clarified that his statement about the late musician's decision to settle with two wives before his passing being 'not new' was misunderstood. He urged Ghanaians to cease what he described as unwarranted criticism.
Following the backlash, Rev Obofour apologised to the group identified as 'Team Legal Wives', clarifying that his comments were taken out of context. "They have really insulted me. I didn't know they were that mean. It is their responsibility to address what I said that pained them. If they think my statement was wrong, I am sorry for that," he added.
