Accra: Nii Adotey Otintor II, the Sempe Mantse, has called on the Government to prioritize the restoration and development of neglected educational institutions and public infrastructure in Ga Mashie. He emphasized that such actions are crucial to improving the living conditions of residents and preserving the area's rich cultural heritage.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nii Adotey Otintor specifically urged for renewed government commitment towards rehabilitating the Sempe School, redeveloping Salaga Market, and rejuvenating other key facilities that have suffered from inadequate investment and neglect over the years. He highlighted that reviving these institutions is vital for promoting quality education, stimulating local economic activity, and safeguarding the historical identity of the Ga State.
Speaking at a gathering in Accra, the traditional ruler expressed concern over the neglect of important public institutions, which has slowed development in Ga Mashie and deprived many young people of opportunities to realize their full potential. He advocated for making the restoration of dormant educational institutions a national priority, emphasizing that investment in education remains one of the most effective means of promoting sustainable development. "The future of every community depends on strong educational institutions and the preservation of its cultural heritage," he stated.
Beyond infrastructure development, Nii Otintor urged traditional authorities to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to champion initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of their people. He called on chiefs across the country to engage political leaders wisely and courageously, insisting on accountability and measurable development outcomes rather than relying on campaign promises.
He pointed out that many political leaders make attractive promises during election campaigns but often fail to deliver once in office. Chiefs, he argued, have a responsibility to protect their communities' interests by insisting on transparency and performance. Nii Otintor also emphasized the importance of principled traditional leadership, asserting that the strength of every community largely depends on the commitment and vision of its leaders.
The Sempe Mantse reaffirmed his dedication to promoting the welfare of the GaDangme people through education, cultural preservation, and community development. He expressed confidence that renewed investment in Ga Mashie would significantly contribute to national progress. He called for stronger collaboration between the government, traditional authorities, and development partners to restore public confidence in state institutions and accelerate development in communities that have experienced years of neglect.
