Keta: Some Residents in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have expressed satisfaction with the first year of President John Dramani Mahama's government, praising the positive policies put in place. They believed that one year after being sworn in, President Mahama's administration had demonstrated and implemented initiatives that aimed at resetting, rebuilding, and renewing the country.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Noah Agbemabiese, a resident of Abor in the Keta municipality, expressed happiness about the government's efforts, noting positive impacts made in their lives and communities. He highlighted the commendable policies such as the big push projects, free sanitary pad delivery to girl students, the no-fee stress initiative, and the Mahama cares social protection framework as key drivers of development and progress.
Mr. Agbemabiese also acknowledged improvements in various sectors of the economy, including agriculture, energy, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and the private sector. He attributed these advancements to the hard work and dedication of President Mahama over his one year in office. He noted that many people appreciated the government's focus on rebuilding and renewing infrastructure, which had transformed various sectors and improved the quality of life for many communities, including vulnerable ones.
Further, he mentioned that the economic initiatives under the Mahama government had reportedly boosted local businesses in the Keta municipality. He asserted that Mahama's second term, within just his first year in power, had changed the narrative and given hope to the people.
Ms. Ama Dzidedi Agbeko, a businesswoman in Keta, expressed optimism about future developments under the current administration. She stated that although the inflation rate had dropped, the pace of selling and buying was slow, necessitating urgent attention in Mahama's second year. She highlighted the significant economic growth, noting an expansion of 6.1 percent in the first three quarters of 2025 and a decline in inflation from 23 percent at the end of 2024 to 6.5 percent in December 2025.
Ms. Agbeko commended the Ghana Medical Trust Fund initiative and the Universal Health Coverage programme, which aimed to support individuals with non-communicable diseases and guarantee medical attention for all. She appealed to the government to expedite the construction of community roads under the big push initiative and to strengthen the energy sector for sustainable electricity supply to drive economic activities.
Other residents interviewed by GNA expressed satisfaction with the first year of President Mahama's government and called for stronger policies to create more employment opportunities for the youth. Meanwhile, a non-denominational Thanksgiving service was organized in Accra to mark one year of President Mahama's presidency, emphasizing the themes of resetting, rebuilding, and renewing Ghana under his leadership.
