Accra: Minister of the Interior, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, has announced the dismissal of several recruits from security services training schools following the discovery of forged or altered West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results presented during recruitment.
According to Ghana Web, these individuals will be placed on a security-sector 'red list', barring them from future admission into any security service. This move is part of a broader effort to maintain the integrity of the recruitment process within the country's security agencies, ensuring that only genuinely qualified candidates are admitted.
Muntaka articulated his concerns, noting a troubling pattern of applicants submitting fraudulent academic credentials to gain entry into the security services. In a statement observed in a video on September 9, 2026, he confirmed, "As we speak, many have been dismissed from the training because they have altered their results."
The issue spans multiple security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Armed Forces. Muntaka questioned the ethics of prospective recruits who knowingly falsify academic records to join institutions tasked with law enforcement and national protection.
He emphasized that applicants caught deliberately defrauding the system face not only dismissal but also potential prosecution, highlighting the severe repercussions of such actions. Muntaka argued that falsifying qualifications reflects a level of indiscipline incompatible with the security sector's standards.
The government's decision to red-list these individuals aims to prevent those who manipulate the recruitment process from securing future opportunities within any security service. Muntaka's statement serves as a cautionary message to the youth against employing deceitful tactics to obtain employment.
