According to ghana news agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, the fallen mast also impacted parts of the roof of the GRA building. West 97.5 FM, which operates within the premises of the Ghana News Agency and has been serving the community with news, educational, and entertainment programming for nearly a decade, now faces significant operational challenges as a result of the storm.
Mr. Samuel Kofi Adangbe, the Office Manager at the Ho Tax Service Division of GRA, reported that the mast fell on a section of their building, causing disruptions. He elaborated that the mast had damaged the GRA communication tower, interrupted communication lines, and punctured sections of the roofing sheets, which led to rainwater seeping into some offices. He expressed concerns regarding the location of the mast, noting the potential for a major disaster had people been present during the incident.
Mr. Adangbe mentioned plans to disconnect electricity lines to enable the safe removal of the fallen mast from the roof. Additionally, he indicated that a team from the headquarters would be inspecting the situation to assess the damage.
Assistant Commissioner Theodore Kafui Ahiable, Sector Commander of the GRA Customs Division, confirmed the event and the resulting damage. He assured that no casualties were reported and that the GRA signal room continued to function despite the disruption. Preliminary assessments are currently underway to rectify the damage and restore affected services.
Efforts by the Ghana News Agency to communicate with the management of West 97.5 FM were unsuccessful at the time of reporting. Meanwhile, work is ongoing to dismantle the fallen mast from the rooftop of the GRA building.
