Accra: Prophet Ogyaba has alleged that he was once arrested for political reasons, despite insisting that he does not actively engage in politics. In a video shared on social media on May 20, 2026, the Ghanaian prophet claimed that some individuals believed he was supporting the National Democratic Congress (NDC), leading to his arrest despite having committed no offence. According to him, he was traveling with his driver and security escort when the situation unfolded unexpectedly.
According to Ghana Web, the preacher explained that his driver temporarily changed their route because he needed to stop and ease himself. 'I don't involve myself in politics, but if I do, I would have a lot to say. I was once arrested because of NDC,' he alleged. 'I was traveling with my driver, with the security leading us. The driver wanted to ease himself, so he said he would take another route so they could find a safer place to do so. Immediately he moved, we got arrested,' he said.
Prophet Ogyaba further claimed that after they were taken to the police station, the driver was released while he was handcuffed and placed in a cell. 'When they took us to the police station, they released the driver and they handcuffed me in the cell,' he recounted. According to him, authorities allegedly struggled to find a suitable offence to charge him with and eventually accused him of unlawfully using the Ghana Coat of Arms.
'They didn't get any case to pin on me, so when they took me to court, what they could say was 'unlawful use of the Ghana Coat of Arms,'' he stated. However, Prophet Ogyaba noted that the judge handling the matter reportedly rejected the accusation brought before the court. 'The judge who was ruling that day refused to accept what they were accusing me of,' he added.
