Kibi: Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II has called on the government to prioritize improved welfare for teachers and greatly honor them because they play a significant role in shaping the future of the nation. According to Okyehene, every professional, regardless of their field, owes their success to the dedication of teachers.
According to Ghana Web, speaking at the 2026 Ohum Festival on July 5, 2026, Okyehene emphasized the importance of honoring teachers, stating, "We must greatly honor teachers. Because if not for teachers, all of us will not have a place to stay. Let us prioritize the well-being of teachers. Because they made all of us who we are. They helped us to learn."
The Okyehene mentioned countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and China as examples where teachers are highly respected, noting that those countries attribute much of their development to investments in education and infrastructure. "If you go to countries like Singapore, South Korea, and Malaysia, teachers are well respected. If you ask those countries what contributed to their development, they will attribute it to education and infrastructure," he said.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin urged the government to prioritize the welfare of teachers while accelerating investments in infrastructure, which, according to him, are both important to Ghana's long-term development. "So, the government should secure funds to complete abandoned road projects and also ensure that contractors do their jobs well," he stated.
