Paris: President John Dramani Mahama will on Monday, April 6, begin an official visit to France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron. According to Ghana News Agency, President Mahama, the founder and driving force behind the Accra Reset Initiative, would co-chair the High-Level Segment of the One Health Summit with President Macron on Tuesday, April 7. The Summit brings together world leaders, health ministers, and global health experts to deliberate on pressing issues relating to global health systems, sustainable food production, and joint strategies to address emerging health challenges.
President Mahama would deliver two keynote addresses. The first will be at a meeting on Global Health Architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation. Participants at the meeting are expected to discuss reforms to global health initiatives and endorse a Political Declaration on strengthening international health cooperation.
The second keynote address would be delivered at the opening of the High-Level Segment for Heads of State and Government, where President Mahama would outline Ghana's commitments and perspectives on global health security. Discussions between the two leaders would focus on strengthening Ghana-France bilateral relations and exploring cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including health, education, trade, investment, and regional security. Prior to the meeting at the e Palace, President Mahama would be received by Mr G©rard Larcher, President of the French Senate, at the Senate House. President Mahama is expected to return to Accra shortly after the bilateral engagements.
