Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has announced his intention to implement further ministerial reshuffles as part of his strategy to enhance governance and provide more individuals with opportunities to serve in government.
According to Ghana Web, President Mahama made this announcement during the Reset Tour and a citizens' engagement in the Volta Region. He emphasized that changes in his administration are forthcoming and that appointments to public office will remain dynamic. "There'll be reshuffles and reshuffles and reshuffles, so just stand in readiness. Who knows, your turn will come and you'll be invited to serve," he stated.
The President elaborated on his administration's commitment to a lean governance model designed to reduce public expenditure while boosting efficiency in the public sector. He noted that the number of presidential staff, advisers, and other officials at the Presidency has been reduced from about 300 in previous administrations to just over 200. "We've kept it lean and mean, and that is how we're able to cut down some of the waste," President Mahama added.
President Mahama also revealed that his government has restricted the number of ministers to 60, with several ministries and all regional ministerial offices operating without deputy ministers. This approach, he noted, aligns with his administration's dedication to minimizing governance costs while ensuring effective service delivery.
His remarks come amid increasing public speculation about a potential ministerial reshuffle, as the government continues to advance its policy agenda and fulfill its campaign promises.
