President Mahama Declares Current IMF Bailout as Ghana’s Last

Bole: President John Dramani Mahama, during his Resetting Ghana Tour in the Savannah Region, declared his intention for the current International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout to be Ghana's last. He emphasized the importance of prudent management of the country's affairs to prevent future reliance on external financial assistance.

According to Ghana Web, the President expressed optimism about Ghana's rapidly expanding economy and stressed the need to maintain economic momentum following the conclusion of the three-year Extended Credit Facility programme with the IMF. President Mahama highlighted the implementation of necessary economic reforms to consolidate the achievements since he took office in 2025.

During the tour, the President initiated several significant projects, including the construction of the Bole College of Education, which is set to accommodate 1,500 students and enhance access to teacher training in the region. He also announced the establishment of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre of Excellence in Sawla to provide young people with employable skills.

Furthermore, President Mahama initiated the construction of the Busunu Girls' STEM Senior High School and revealed plans for a science and technology university in the region. He stressed the government's focus on expanding technical and vocational education to align with labour market demands.

In addressing healthcare, President Mahama announced the replacement of the old Bole District Hospital with a modern 150-bed facility and inspected the upgrade of the Damango District Hospital into a regional hospital. Additionally, he inaugurated an ICT centre in Damango and assessed progress on key road projects in the region.
