Police Return Lost GHC85,000.00 to Owner in Bono East

Bono east: The Bono East Regional Police Command has returned GHC85,000.00 found near a snap check to its rightful owner. According to Ghana News Agency, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Appiah Danquah, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, detailed the incident in a release, stating that on Saturday, February 14, at approximately 0420 hours, police officers noticed a bag on the roadside, likely having fallen from a moving vehicle. The officers, on duty at the Police Snap Check Point along the Techiman-Kumasi Highway, found the bag labeled with the name 'Ofori' and a phone number. Inspector George Appiah, leading the duty officers, discovered the bag contained money and promptly handed it over to the Regional Command for further investigation. The release mentioned that the contact number on the bag was dialed, reaching a 53-year-old businessman named Stephen Ofori from Ashtown, Kumasi. Ofori reported to the checkpoint to claim the bag, explaining that the GHC85,000.00 was being transported from GCB Bank, Wa to Kumasi in a commercial vehicle. The police verified the amount in Ofori's presence, confirming it was indeed GHC85,000.00. After receiving satisfactory explanation and conducting further verification, the police returned the money to Ofori. The release concluded by commending the officers and community members who played a role in bringing the incident to the police's attention.
