Accra: Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Haruna Dauda, the Dormaa Central Municipal Police Commander in the Bono Region, has advised Muslim families to closely monitor their youth to prevent waywardness and deviant behaviour. He emphasized the importance of parental vigilance during the Eid-ul-Adha celebration, urging parents to be attentive to their children's activities and social circles to ensure they do not become 'vagabonds and truants' and eventually turn delinquent.
According to Ghana News Agency, ASP Dauda expressed concern about the rising issue of substance abuse among the youth, warning that engaging in such activities could lead them into criminal behavior. He appealed to young people to distance themselves from harmful drugs, emphasizing the potential for substance abuse to ruin their future and livelihoods.
Additionally, Mallam Ali, the First Deputy Chief Imam of the Dormaa Central Municipality, called on Muslims to refrain from making baseless remarks and commentaries on social media, as unfounded statements could lead to serious consequences. He highlighted the importance of respecting elders to garner Allah's blessings and advocated for a lifestyle of forgiveness and avoidance of sin.
Baffour Oppong Asare, the Akyeamehene (sub-chief) of the Dormaa Traditional Area, also addressed the gathering, urging Muslims to contribute to development initiatives within the municipality. He advised residents, drivers, and travelers to avoid littering and to make use of the plastic waste bins strategically placed throughout the Dormaa-Ahenkro township.
