Dormaa-ahenkro: The Chief Superintendent Daniel Kwao Teye, the Dormaa Central Divisional Police Commander in the Bono Region, has cautioned motorcycle and tricycle riders to comply with road safety regulations.
According to Ghana News Agency, Chief Supt Teye emphasized the importance of wearing helmets and acquiring a riding license, warning that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted. His comments were made while addressing hundreds of Muslims at a gathering for the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration at Dormaa-Ahenkro. He expressed concern over the increasing number of motorcycle and tricycle crashes and the resulting fatalities in the Municipality.
Chief Supt Teye highlighted a worrying statistic, noting, "Every week somebody dies in crashes. Just about three days ago, three people died in a fatal crash, and they are yet to be buried." He urged riders to exercise caution on the road to prevent further tragedies.
He also acknowledged the economic benefits of using tricycles for transportation but cautioned that they come with significant disadvantages. Chief Supt Teye advised riders to prioritize safety while enjoying the economic advantages these vehicles offer.
