Tuba: Police have arrested two brothers over the alleged murder of a 54-year-old man and shooting of his wife at Tuba, near Weija.
According to Ghana News Agency, the suspects, identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon, were arrested with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET). A police statement signed by Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region, indicated that the incident took place on August 6, 2026, following reports received by the Weija Police about a shooting at Beach Drive Estate.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered Mohammed Rahman, 54, and his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, suffering from gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment. The victims were transported to Finney Hospital in Weija, where Rahman was declared dead upon arrival. His wife was later referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for additional treatment and is reportedly responding to the care.
The body of the deceased has been placed at the Police Hospital Mortuary awaiting an autopsy. During interrogation, Adams allegedly confessed to shooting Rahman and his wife, citing his perception that the deceased had labeled him as 'lazy and useless' as a motive that mentally affected him.
Adams led investigators to his brother's room at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered. The weapon had been allegedly hidden beneath the wall drop of Bala, who was employed by the deceased.
Police investigations revealed that Adams and Bala lived together in the same room at Tuba. Adams also informed investigators that the pistol had been allegedly provided by a friend named Gideon. Subsequent attempts to locate Gideon at his residence in Tuba have been unsuccessful.
Efforts are ongoing to find Gideon to assist with the investigation. Meanwhile, Bala has been arrested and is assisting the police with their inquiries.
