Zebilla: Simon Apusiga, alias Ananga, 42, has been arrested by the Upper East Regional Police Command in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Bawku West District on February 8, 2026.
According to Ghana News Agency, the suspect was apprehended two days later at his hideout at Tarkwa Huni Valley in the Western Region following an intelligence-led operation. A press release issued by Police Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), stated that the suspect was in police custody assisting with investigations.
'A special team deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has arrested one person in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region on 8th February 2026,' the statement revealed. It further added that preliminary investigations indicated the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the incident and was traced to the Western Region.
The arrest of Simon Apusiga, alias Ananga, aged 42, took place on 10th February 2026 through an intelligence-driven operation at his hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area. The press release also mentioned that the suspect would be put before court to face the full rigours of the law, with efforts being intensified to capture other suspects involved.
