Accra: The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has arrested a student, Nhyira Papa Kojo Egyir Hayford, for publishing obscene material online.
According to Ghana News Agency, on Friday, February 27, 2026, the team encountered a viral intimate video circulating on social media involving Hayford, a 23-year-old student, as part of their cyber patrol activities. The video was posted on a public Snapchat account under the username biggforddd123.
The police brief detailed that multiple females were involved in the recordings, which dated from 2023 to January 26, 2026. Upon being invited for questioning, Hayford admitted to posting the videos on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. He claimed the postings were in response to a TikTok challenge known as 'Anti Shakira's.'
Hayford also confessed to recording another explicit video in 2023, which he allegedly sold to an American woman named Naya for USD 600, equivalent to GHS 6,500 at that time. One of the women featured in the videos, Portia Ampofo, was also called in for investigation.
The suspect was handed over to the Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters for further inquiry based on the facts established during the interview. On the night of March 5, Hayford was released on police enquiry bail as the investigation continued.
The brief warned the public against posting obscene and related materials online, emphasizing that such acts are against the country's laws. It stated, "The police will go all out to ensure that the Internet is safe for every Ghanaian."
