Accra: The Ghana Police Service has announced a complete blockade of the N6 Highway, also known as the Accra-Kumasi Highway, following a crash involving a passenger bus, an articulated truck, and a sedan. In a post shared on Facebook on Monday, August 3, 2026, the Police Service said the crash occurred at the Birimso Bridge and had brought traffic in both directions to a standstill.
According to Ghana Web, the Eastern South Regional Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) team from Kibi was dispatched to the scene to manage the situation. The police reported that traffic has been temporarily diverted through Kibi at Nsutam for Accra-bound motorists and at Apedwa for those traveling towards Kumasi.
The diversions are in effect from Monday, August 3, 2026, as efforts continue to clear the crash scene and restore normal traffic flow. The Police Service urged motorists and other road users to cooperate with officers at the scene and exercise caution while using the alternative routes.
