Paul Yandoh Loses NPP Ashanti Regional Secretary Race

Kumasi: Francis Adomako has emerged victorious in the Ashanti Regional Secretary race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnering 492 votes during the party's regional elections held at the Kumasi Jubilee Park on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Adomako triumphed over two other candidates, including Michael Amoah Awuku, who received 331 votes, and Paul Yandoh, the outgoing Regional Director of Communications, who secured 105 votes.

According to Ghana Web, a video circulating on social media captured jubilant supporters of Francis Adomako celebrating his win by spraying powder on him. In contrast, Paul Yandoh was filmed appearing visibly disappointed with the election's outcome.

In a related development, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, affectionately known as Asanteman Coka, has been elected as the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP. Coka achieved a significant victory, surpassing his nearest rival, Dr. Henry Kokofu, by more than 400 votes.
