Accra: Paul Awentami Afoko, a hopeful contender for the position of National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), characterized his recent vetting session as a substantive exchange marked by candid and wide-ranging discussions with the committee. This approach, he noted, deviated from what is often perceived as a formalistic box-ticking exercise.
According to Ghana Web, Afoko shared his reflections with journalists following the session held at the party's Greater Accra Regional headquarters in Kokomlemle. He emphasized that the discussions were frank, including questions that tested him beyond his prepared responses.
Afoko expressed his belief that the process was both fair and firm, highlighting the committee's calibre by pointing out the unexpected nature of some questions posed to him. These questions, he noted, would be integral to his strategy planning for the party's future, particularly looking toward the 2028 agenda.
Despite the transparency of the discussions, Afoko refrained from divulging specific details, citing a confidentiality agreement he signed before the vetting began. He emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality, especially concerning strategic plans for the party's future endeavors.
Afoko conveyed satisfaction with his performance during the vetting, stating that he felt confident in his responses and had no indication of any dissatisfaction from the committee.
He also mentioned that his campaign efforts are gaining traction across the nation, with several regions already visited. Afoko plans to continue his nationwide campaign following this vetting session.
