Accra: The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced the immediate closure of payments for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage to prevent oversubscription and ensure effective management of the exercise. The decision is aimed at ensuring a smooth, orderly, and well-coordinated pilgrimage process for all confirmed pilgrims.
According to Ghana News Agency, the decision was announced in a press release signed by Mr. Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Director of Communications at PAOG. The proactive measure was deemed necessary to prevent oversubscription, which has historically resulted in administrative backlogs and operational challenges during Hajj operations.
The statement highlighted that closing payments at this stage would allow PAOG to align the number of confirmed pilgrims with the approved quota for the pilgrimage. It emphasized that maintaining the number of pilgrims within the approved quota is crucial for ensuring a safe, efficient, and successful Hajj.
The release further stated that the decision was taken in the best interest of prospective pilgrims and the nation, ensuring that all individuals who had successfully completed payment would be airlifted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It advised those unable to complete their payments before the closure to prepare for subsequent Hajj arrangements.
