Accra: The defamation case involving former Black Stars defender John Paintsil and broadcast personality Patrick Osei Agyemang, also known as Countryman Songo, along with three others, is set to resume on February 17, 2026. The proceedings at the High Court continue to progress as the legal battle unfolds.
According to Ghana Web, Paintsil has already been cross-examined by lawyers representing the Multimedia Group Limited and Patrick Osei Agyemang. The upcoming session is expected to see legal representatives for Christopher Nimley, Saddick Adams, and Veronica Comey also cross-examine the former international player. This session on February 17 will be a pivotal moment in Paintsil's testimony.
Following Paintsil's cross-examination, his legal counsel will proceed to cross-examine Patrick Osei Agyemang. The court's schedule dictates that the cases for the remaining three defendants will follow in sequence. Prior to the cross-examinations, John Paintsil had rejected a GHS100,000 settlement offer, labeling it as 'disrespectful.'
Paintsil is pursuing a defamation action over alleged defamatory comments made on Multimedia platforms, seeking a total of GHS25 million in damages-GHS5 million from Patrick Osei Agyemang and GHS20 million from the Multimedia Group Limited. In response to the lawsuit, Patrick Osei Agyemang was taken off air by the Multimedia Group for over a year, a decision that sparked significant public discussion.
However, sources close to the broadcaster suggest that the outspoken presenter is expected to return to the microphone this month.
