Ada west: A total of 1,619 candidates are sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Ada West District of the Greater Accra Region. This cohort includes 834 boys and 785 girls from 62 public and private basic schools across the district.
According to Ghana News Agency, data from the Ada West District Education Directorate shows that public schools account for the majority of candidates, with 1,279 students, while 340 students are from private schools. Out of the participating schools, 36 are public institutions, and 26 are private, reflecting the continued prevalence of public basic education in the district.
The district has designated six centers for the examinations: Matsekope D/A Junior High School, Addokope D/A Junior High School, Anyamam Community Junior High School, Lolonya D/A Junior High School, Shalom Christian Academy at Nakomkope, and Winning Faith International School at Sege. Each center is staffed with a supervisor, an assistant supervisor, and a team of invigilators to ensure effective monitoring and the smooth conduct of the examination.
In total, six supervisors, six assistant supervisors, and 56 invigilators have been deployed across the centers. The breakdown of data indicates significant contributions from clusters of schools in communities such as Sege, Matsekope, Kolueder, Lolonya, Goi, Anyamam, and Nakomkope, highlighting widespread participation across the district.
Education authorities in the district have expressed their readiness for the examination, confirming that logistics and personnel arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth process. The Basic Education Certificate Examination, conducted annually by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), remains a crucial requirement for the placement of candidates into senior high schools under Ghana's education system.
