Osogbo: Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has expressed concerns over the delay in uploading results from the Osun State governorship election to the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
According to Ghana Web, Davido took to his X account on Saturday to call for transparency from the electoral body, demanding timely updates regarding the election results. He emphasized the importance of keeping the public informed, writing, "INEC, it is now 2:33 p.m., yet no result has been uploaded to the IReV portal. What is the delay? Nigerians deserve transparency and timely updates."
The singer, actively involved in the election process, urged voters to remain vigilant at their polling units until the results were uploaded to the IReV portal. He advised them to ensure that the figures were correctly entered on the electronic EC8A result form. "Make sure your polling unit results are uploaded on IReV in your presence and make sure the figures are entered on eEC8A (electronic EC8A). We will follow our votes bumper to bumper!" he stated.
Davido also encouraged voters to document the process by photographing their polling unit result sheets and forwarding them to a designated WhatsApp number he shared in his post. He urged, "Don't leave your polling unit until it is being uploaded on the IReV, protect your vote now."
In another message, Davido addressed technical issues with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices, suggesting that election officials use the front camera if the primary camera was malfunctioning, describing it as "very active and fast."
The singer has been an active supporter of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party. Davido's efforts to mobilize support for his uncle have been evident throughout the governorship poll.
