Kumasi: The Parent Teacher Association and Old Students Association of Osei Tutu Senior High School are urging the Ghana Education Service to transfer the school's headmaster and some members of management over allegations of mismanagement and poor leadership.
According to Ghana Web, the groups have sent several petitions to the Regional and District Education Directorates, as well as the Methodist Bishop, concerning developments that they claim are harming the school's progress and reputation. During a press conference on Friday, May 15, 2026, PTA Vice Chairman Joseph Abebrese highlighted issues of rising indiscipline and a breakdown in relations between students and the surrounding community.
Abebrese cited recent conflicts between students and community residents, which he attributed to weak administration and poor management. The tensions, he noted, escalated to the extent that some residents allegedly set fire to one of the school's science blocks. Additionally, he raised concerns about poor security, claiming that gang-related activities are posing a threat to students and staff, and that unauthorized individuals are moving freely in and out of the school premises.
He also mentioned a viral video allegedly showing students assaulting an okada rider, which he said has tarnished the school's image. Professor Kenneth Frimpong, Global President of the Old Boys Association, echoed these concerns, emphasizing issues of accountability within the school's administration.
Professor Frimpong reported complaints from some parents that the headmaster allegedly collected funds for 100 student beds but delivered only 60. He stressed the need for stronger leadership to protect the reputation and future of Osei Tutu Senior High School.
Both the PTA and Old Students Association are calling on the Minister of Education and relevant authorities to take immediate action.
