Boise: Olympic champion Bode Miller has publicly denied allegations of drug possession following his recent arrest. The 48-year-old former alpine skiing racer was detained earlier this month in Idaho for possession of psilocybin mushrooms and has pleaded not guilty to two counts of drug possession, as per court documents.
According to Ghana News Agency, Miller was released on a $5,000 cash bond. He took to Instagram late on Tuesday to explain the situation, stating that he was pulled over by police while driving on a highway in Idaho. He clarified that a friend traveling with him had a small amount of cannabis and a cannabis pipe, which he was unaware of.
Idaho enforces strict drug laws, contrasting with states like Colorado and Oregon, where the use of psilocybin has been legalized for therapeutic purposes. Miller, a six-time Olympic medallist and two-time overall World Cup champion, famously won Olympic super combined gold in Vancouver in 2010, solidifying his status as one of the greatest alpine skiers in US history.
