Accra: Oforikrom Member of Parliament Michael Aidoo is calling on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region to maintain peace and unity as the party holds its regional executive elections. Aidoo made the appeal after casting his ballot on Saturday, 15 August, 2026, saying he expects the election and subsequent counting process to be conducted without incidents.
According to Ghana Web, the Oforikrom MP emphasized the importance of restraint and mindful communication among delegates and supporters during the election process. He urged them to watch their words to avoid causing division within the party.
Aidoo remarked that any election outcome would result in winners and losers, but it is crucial for both sides to stay committed to the party. He encouraged those who win to celebrate responsibly and those who do not to accept the results and continue contributing to the NPP's goals.
'Whatever be the situation, know that the party comes first. So, whether you win or lose, we all come together,' he said.
Additionally, Aidoo called on candidates and their supporters to keep up the momentum from their campaigns and focus on strengthening the party. He highlighted the ultimate goal of uniting the NPP to secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
The Ashanti regional executive elections are part of the NPP's ongoing internal reorganisation efforts in preparation for the 2028 elections.
