Accra: Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has linked former President John Dramani Mahama to his position on accountability in the case involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He emphasized that Mahama would ensure that no individual avoids legal responsibility, stating, "President Mahama that I know, he will not even allow you the opportunity to say you are running away," during an appearance on TV3's Keypoints.
According to Ghana Web, Edudzi Tameklo's comments were in response to concerns regarding Ofori-Atta's absence from Ghana amid ongoing legal processes. Tameklo highlighted the importance of public accountability systems, asserting that individuals under scrutiny should not be permitted to leave the jurisdiction without addressing the legal proceedings. He stressed that those facing inquiry must remain available to answer questions from relevant institutions.
Tameklo further remarked, "Let us not bury our heads in the sand and pretend this thing was not well orchestrated," underscoring the need for consistent accountability practices regardless of the individual's profile.
