Offinso north: The Offinso North District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has successfully mobilised a total revenue of GHC 908,725.12 as of 31st May 2025. This figure represents 95.69 percent of the Assembly's annual projected Internally Generated Fund (IGF) budget of GHC 949,725.50. The revelation was made by the Offinso North District Chief Executive, Ceaser Ofosu Acheampong, during the First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Offinso North District Assembly.
According to Ghana Web, despite the progress in revenue collection and management, the Assembly remains steadfast in its efforts to implement prudent measures for enhanced revenue mobilisation. On the topic of external funding, Acheampong reported that the Assembly received GHC 14,386,228.25 in actual transfers from the Government of Ghana.
Regarding agriculture and rural development, Acheampong highlighted the Assembly's vision to transform agriculture from a traditional way of life into a viable business enterprise, acknowledging it as the backbone of the local economy. As for education, he announced that 1,551 candidates participated in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across five centres in the district, with ongoing investments in modern educational facilities.
In the area of social welfare, the LEAP validation exercise this year reassessed and validated 1,696 LEAP and non-LEAP households across 57 communities. Additionally, 160 indigent individuals were enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme for healthcare access, and GHC 338,000 was disbursed to 125 persons with disabilities in the district.
Acheampong concluded by urging Assembly Members to continue collaborating as a unified body, respect diverse opinions, and remain dedicated to the district's development.
