Kumasi: Bishop Daniel Obinim has publicly addressed rumors surrounding his alleged divorce from gospel musician Florence Obinim, following reports of her initiation of a traditional divorce.
According to Ghana Web, Florence Obinim reportedly returned drinks to the preacher's family, a symbolic gesture in Ghanaian culture indicating the end of a marriage after over two decades together. During a church service on September 8, 2026, Bishop Obinim refuted claims that he had expressed disinterest in continuing the marriage.
In a video shared by Gossipis24 Avenue, Obinim recounted being informed by Florence's relatives-Sister Abena, Elder Antwi, and Brother Frank-that she accused him of initiating the separation by leaving their matrimonial home.
Obinim detailed, "Florence Obinim's family came to me in Kumasi. God being so good, my eldest daughter, Gifted Obinim, was there, so I made her sit inside the meeting as a witness." He clarified that while he had left their home, he never stated he was uninterested in the marriage, adding that divine intervention would prove his honesty if his church attendance dwindled to five people.
He also communicated through Florence's family that reconciliation depended on her disassociating from Prophet Ogyaba and publicly apologizing on social media for damaging his reputation. However, after a week without updates, Obinim learned from a follow-up call that Florence refused to end her associations or apologize publicly.
Bishop Obinim insists on an apology for airing their marital issues online, having documented their interactions and involving their children, Gifted and Angel, to question Florence's priorities. Ultimately, he discovered that Florence returned drinks to his father, signifying her formal request for a divorce. Obinim consented, citing her preference for external influences over their marriage.
