NPP’s Kwabena Agyepong Spotted at Wembley for FA Cup Final

London: Former New Patriotic Party presidential aspirant Ing Kwabena Agyei Agyepong was among the notable faces at Wembley Stadium as he watched Chelsea take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final. The engineer and politician shared moments from the famous stadium on his official Facebook page before kickoff, revealing his support for the London club.

According to Ghana Web, Agyepong posted pictures from inside Wembley and wrote: 'Rooting for Chelsea at Wembley Stadium FA Cup final 16th May 2026.' A well-known sports enthusiast who once hosted GTV's popular Sports Highlight programme in the 1990s, Agyepong has long maintained a strong connection to football despite his deep involvement in Ghanaian politics.

However, the trip to Wembley did not end in celebration for the former NPP General Secretary as Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo scored the decisive goal with a flick finish after connecting with a pass from Erling Haaland.

Agyepong recently sought to become the New Patriotic Party's flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections but failed in his bid after contesting alongside figures including Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Kennedy Agyapong, and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.

Despite the disappointment of Chelsea's defeat at Wembley, Agyepong appeared to enjoy the occasion at one of football's iconic venues. As many have said, it was a Ghanaian who got the loudest plaudits of the night, and that, for Agyepong, is something to take pride in, even if it wasn't on the ticket of his preferred club.
