Nkwanta south: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Nkwanta South, Mr. Samuel Yaw Larrey, has announced plans to engage the Nkwanta South Divisional Police Command to seek a temporary adjustment of curfew hours. This initiative is aimed at facilitating the smooth collation of results during the party's constituency executive elections.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Larrey shared in an interview that this move is part of the constituency leadership's efforts to ensure the safety of delegates, electoral officials, and party members while adhering to existing security arrangements in the municipality. He highlighted that he, alongside the Constituency Secretary, is scheduled to meet the Nkwanta South Divisional Police Commander at 1400 hours on Wednesday. The meeting will serve to formally present the party's request for a temporary extension of the curfew period, should the election process and result collation extend into the evening.
Mr. Larrey expressed confidence that the security authorities would consider the request favorably, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and credible electoral process. He reiterated the party's commitment to cooperating closely with security agencies and complying with all directives issued concerning the elections.
Additionally, Mr. Larrey announced a change of venue for Saturday's constituency executive elections. The event will be moved from its traditional location to the Nkwanta JHS 'A' Park. This decision follows a careful assessment of the current security situation, as the former venue has recently experienced recurring disturbances.
Mr. Larrey is optimistic that the new venue will offer a safer and more convenient environment for delegates to vote peacefully. He called upon all aspirants, delegates, and supporters to conduct themselves responsibly, respect the electoral rules, and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a successful election.
