Accra: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to commence the nomination process for its upcoming constituency executive elections, with the window opening on Monday, June 22, 2026, and closing on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. This announcement comes as the party prepares to conduct elections at constituency delegates' conferences across the nation.
According to Ghana News Agency, the details of the nomination process were disclosed in a statement by Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the Party. Aspirants aiming for the role of Constituency Chairman are required to pay a nomination fee of GHS1,500. Those contesting for the positions of First Vice Chairman and Second Vice Chairman will need to pay GHS1,000 each. Other roles such as Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser, and Communication Officer come with a nomination fee of GHS500.
The Party has clarified that nomination forms can be obtained from Constituency Elections Committees or constituency offices. Additionally, aspirants have the option to download the forms from the Party's official website, www.newpatrioticparty.org. Candidates who choose to download the forms online must pay the relevant fee through the Party's online portal, member.nppghana.org, and must submit an electronic receipt along with their completed forms.
Eligibility criteria for aspirants include being a registered member of the Party within the constituency they wish to contest, maintaining good standing with all membership dues paid, and residing and voting in the constituency. Furthermore, candidates must have shown active party membership for a minimum of two years and should not have forfeited their membership. Applicants for the positions of Constituency Secretary, Research Officer, or Electoral Affairs Officer are required to hold at least a diploma or higher qualification.
The statement emphasized that constituency election committees are tasked with vetting all aspirants and conducting the elections. The process will be supervised by the Electoral Commission in adherence to the Political Parties Act, 2000 (Act 574). Contestable positions at the elections include Constituency Chairman, First Vice Chairman, Second Vice Chairman, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser, and Communication Officer.
