Oda: The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has declared that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has not fulfilled its campaign promises, exacerbating the challenges faced by Ghanaians. According to Ghana Web, Acquah claims that the government's failure to deliver on its promises has led to harassment, arrests, and intimidation of critics who voice their concerns.
Appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Acquah expressed that many Ghanaians regret voting for the NDC, feeling misled by the opposition's previous assertions of economic hardship. He reassured the public that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to return to power under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, offering improved leadership, economic stability, and accountable governance.
Acquah stated, "I want to assure Ghanaians that the next NPP government will do much better when we resume power. Whenever you are voted out of power and in opposition, you use the opportunity to learn from past mistakes, correct them, and return to do much better."
He further emphasized that despite expectations for the NDC to perform better, the current government has failed to meet its promises. Acquah urged patience among Ghanaians, stating that the NPP is prepared to address the alleged corruption and suppression of dissent by the NDC once they return to power. "2028 will come soon, and so we will ask Ghanaians to be patient," he assured, highlighting the need for hope in a future NPP government.
