Accra: The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has filed a Right to Information (RTI) request demanding information on the flagship 'Big Push' initiative of the John Dramani Mahama government. The RTI request seeks documents from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) regarding the award of 20 construction projects under the 'Big Push' initiative, which he claims were sole-sourced.
According to Ghana Web, the MP's request includes obtaining the minutes from the PPA board meetings where the awards of the said contracts were decided. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah stated his intentions in a formal letter written as the MP for Manhyia South, citing the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), as the basis for his request.
The MP's letter detailed his need for transparency in procurement activities undertaken under the 'Big Push' initiative. Specifically, he seeks to access the minutes of PPA meetings that approved the sole-sourcing contracts in question. The request underscores his commitment to ensuring accountability in government procurement processes.
