Dambai: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the Government, the Oti Regional Security Council (REGSEC), and the relevant security agencies to provide answers on the reported disappearance of Fussein Mohammed, a resident of Dambai. Fussein has allegedly been missing for nearly 10 months, raising serious concerns about the safety and security of residents, as well as the progress of investigations into the case.
According to Ghana News Agency, the circumstances surrounding Mr. Mohammed's disappearance have prompted the NPP to seek national attention on issues affecting the safety, security, rights, and welfare of Ghanaians. Speaking at a press engagement in Dambai, led by Mr. Justin Frimpong Koduah, National Secretary of the NPP, the party highlighted that Mr. Mohammed was reportedly abducted on October 25, 2025, while returning home on a motorbike with his pregnant wife after closing from their shop, a mere 50 meters from the residence of the Oti Regional Minister.
The NPP expressed concern over the lack of answers regarding Mr. Mohammed's whereabouts and the progress of the investigation. They called on security agencies to intensify efforts to locate Mr. Mohammed, identify those responsible for the alleged abduction, and ensure they are brought to justice. The party emphasized that the prolonged absence of clear answers could undermine public confidence in the security architecture of Dambai and the wider Oti Region.
Information available to the NPP indicated that the incident occurred along a principal route in Dambai, and the ferry serving the area was reportedly not operational at the time. The alternative route towards Nkwanta, which reportedly had three security checkpoints operating that night, raised questions about how the alleged perpetrators could have abducted Mr. Mohammed and escaped detection.
The NPP demanded clarification from the relevant authorities on the current status of the investigation and the specific steps taken since October 25, 2025. They questioned whether information, leads, and accounts provided by residents and potential witnesses had been followed up by investigators. The party also inquired about the availability and analysis of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage from the vicinity of the incident and along relevant routes, as well as the examination of records from security checkpoints and interviews with officers on duty that night.
The NPP called on REGSEC to clarify its role in coordinating the investigation and provide assurances to Mr. Mohammed's family and the people of Dambai that all available investigative mechanisms had been deployed. They stressed the importance of equal protection under the law for every Ghanaian, irrespective of political affiliation, social status, or occupation, and questioned whether the response would have been different if a senior government official had disappeared under similar circumstances.
The party urged civil society organizations, traditional authorities, religious leaders, the media, human rights organizations, and other stakeholders to support calls for a thorough, professional, and transparent investigation into Mr. Mohammed's disappearance. The NPP emphasized that Mr. Mohammed's family deserved answers and that residents of Dambai and the wider Oti Region also deserved reassurance about their safety and confidence in the security system. They called for the matter to be treated with urgency and for credible updates on the progress of investigations to be provided to the family and the public.
