Tanoso: Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tano North Constituency, Ahafo Region, have successfully retained Mr. Kakari Appau as their constituency chairman. In the election, Mr. Appau garnered 669 valid votes, surpassing his rivals Mr. Janamah Biiyien, who received 205 votes, and Mr. Ebenezer Acheampong Afful, who secured 194 votes. The election, conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC) and held in Tanoso, concluded peacefully over the weekend.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Asare Gyamfi-Kumanin Ameyaw was chosen as the First Vice Chair, obtaining 451 votes, while his competitors Mr. Peter Boadi and Mr. Obeng Acheampong received 340 and 273 votes, respectively. Mr. Victor Afrane claimed the Second Vice Chair position with 518 votes, defeating Mr. Thompson Kyeremeh, who had 448 votes, and Mr. Joe Kofi Oduro, who secured 121 votes.
Mr. Lewis Ansah emerged as the Communication Officer with 776 votes, outpacing Mr. Ernest Arkoh, who garnered 291 votes. Mr. Kwabena Afful was elected as the Organizer with 718 votes, defeating Mr. Emmanuel Owusu Boadu and Mr. Benjamin Ampofo Twumasi, who received 205 and 145 votes, respectively.
Mr. Abdul Karim Suleman was chosen as the NASARA Organizer with 553 votes, overcoming Mr. Mohammad Ali, who received 225 votes. The constituency treasurer position went to Mr. Kwabena Antwi Bosiako, who secured 424 votes, against Mr. Ernest Kwabena Acheampong's 364 votes and Mr. Owoahene Acheampong's 278 votes.
Additionally, Mr. Derrick Owusu won the Deputy Secretary position with 551 votes, defeating Mr. Stanley Ahenkan Owusu, who had 314 votes. Mr. Romeo Baokye Ansah secured the Youth Organizer role with 657 votes, beating Mr. Vincent Takyi, who had 418 votes. The Women Organiser contest saw Mr. Charlotte Baffour Awuah triumph with 604 votes, outdoing Stella Serwaa's 233 votes and Alhassan Asia's 232 votes.
In an interview, Mr. Ansah, the newly elected Communication Officer, praised the delegates and stakeholders for the smooth election process. He emphasized the significance of the election's success in strengthening the party's unity and preparedness for the 2028 elections, stating that the victory was for the entire Tano North Constituency. He urged party supporters to build on their achievements, work cohesively, and aim to regain political power in the next General Election.
Mr. Ansah also conveyed his gratitude to the NPP leadership for incorporating the Communication Office into the Constituency Executive Committee, highlighting its role in enhancing communication and information dissemination within the constituency.
