Accra: New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator, Nana Adjei, has voiced strong criticism against the government regarding its implementation of the proposed 24-hour economy policy, arguing that there is insufficient evidence to support the claim that the initiative is in practice. Adjei pointed out that the 24-hour economy secretariat operates only from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which contradicts the concept of a round-the-clock economy.
According to Ghana Web, Nana Adjei accused the government of failing to deliver on its promises related to the policy, despite being in office for over a year. He expressed disappointment over the lack of tangible results, stating, "It has been 16 months and they have done nothing. They promised Ghanaians this and they have still not delivered." Adjei further argued that the initial promise of the policy extended beyond market construction and infrastructure announcements, emphasizing that there is no evidence of fulfillment regarding what was originally promised.
Additionally, Adjei questioned the status of certain initiatives and structures that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) had previously pledged to establish, such as a women's branch. He also highlighted dissatisfaction and hardship within the ruling party, claiming that even NDC supporters are suffering from a lack of job opportunities. Adjei asserted that frustration among grassroots supporters of the governing party continues to grow due to unmet expectations, concluding that "Nothing is going well in that party. The grassroots are bleeding and crying."
