Accra: Abdul-Wadud Iddrisu, who had announced his intention to contest the Constituency Communication Officer post in the Gushegu Constituency Executive Elections, has withdrawn his candidacy.
According to Ghana Web, Iddrisu announced his withdrawal in a statement, expressing his decision to step back from the race after being asked to issue a public apology on Facebook to the NPP and Lawyer Sulemana Hassan Tampuli, MP for Gushegu, as a prerequisite for his candidature. Iddrisu refused to meet this condition.
Iddrisu stated, "I respectfully withdraw my candidature for Constituency Communication Officer in the Constituency Executive Elections scheduled for 11th or 12th July 2026." He emphasized his decision not to proceed with the contest if it required an apology, insisting that his name be removed from the ballot and all records of his application be erased from party files.
Despite his withdrawal, Iddrisu reaffirmed his loyalty to the NPP in Gushegu, indicating his ongoing commitment to the party's values and objectives.
