Accra: The NPP 2024 Parliamentary candidate aspirant for the Ahafo Ano North constituency, Kwaku Fosu Frimpong, has issued a strong rejoinder, denying accusations linking him and his supporters to violent disturbances during the recent polling station executive elections at Akwasiase.
According to Ghana Web, Fosu Frimpong released a detailed statement in response to a press release by some constituency executives on May 12, 2026, vehemently dismissing all allegations that he sponsored, financed, or deployed individuals to disrupt the electoral process. He described the accusations as false, reckless, and biased, claiming they were politically motivated and designed to tarnish his reputation and mislead party members.
Frimpong specifically refuted claims associating certain individuals with his political camp, labeling them as propaganda lacking factual basis. He cited Emmanuel Bempong, popularly known as Nautica, insisting the individual has no affiliation with his team. "The statement was not based on facts or proper investigations but on propaganda and political bias," he stressed.
While condemning the violence that erupted during the elections, Frimpong expressed grave concern over what he described as selective justice and hypocrisy from some constituency executives. He alleged that two of his supporters sustained serious cutlass wounds during disturbances on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in the presence of the sitting Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano North, Nana Agyemang Prempeh, and police officers. Despite this, he claimed the constituency executives allegedly remained silent on the incident.
He further alleged that he was personally attacked during the violence by a driver linked to the Member of Parliament, adding that a police officer sustained injuries while intervening to prevent the assault. He maintained that these incidents are matters of public record and can be verified by the Ghana Police Service.
The former parliamentary aspirant accused some constituency executives of openly aligning themselves with the sitting MP and rejecting support from him and his associates during previous party activities. He stated that such actions expose deep-rooted divisions within the constituency and undermine party unity and internal democracy.
"The continuous attempts by some executives to manipulate processes and push outcomes in favour of persons they perceive to be aligned to them are what continue to create tension and confusion within the constituency," he stated. Despite the growing tensions, Frimpong reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to peace, fairness, and unity within the NPP and called on party supporters to remain calm and law-abiding.
He appealed to the Ghana Police Service to conduct an impartial and independent investigation into all acts of violence and misconduct recorded during the elections to ensure justice and accountability prevail.
