Accra: The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has generously contributed GHS1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, known as the MahamaCares Fund. This initiative is dedicated to offering affordable healthcare services to individuals suffering from non-communicable diseases.
According to Ghana Web, the donation was made during a ceremony graced by the presence of Adwoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, and Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, Chief Executive of the NPA. Tameklo highlighted that this contribution aligns with NPA's commitment to supporting government efforts in providing accessible healthcare, a key promise made by President John Dramani Mahama in the establishment of the MahamaCare programme.
Madam Darko-Opoku expressed her appreciation for the donation, underlining the critical role of corporate social responsibility in combating non-communicable diseases, which are responsible for 45% of deaths in Ghana. The MahamaCare programme is set to deliver treatment for various conditions, including cancers and cardiovascular diseases, with plans to expand services to 30 facilities nationwide by April.
