Savelugu: Northshore Apparel GH LTD, a garment manufacturing company based in Savelugu in the Northern Region, has achieved a major international milestone after obtaining certification from the globally recognised Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP). The certification positioned the company among ethical and export-ready apparel manufacturers worldwide.
According to Ghana News Agency, this achievement was highlighted in a statement issued by Mr. Mohammed Nurideen, the Chief Executive Officer of Northshore Apparel GH LTD. The statement, which was copied to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale, detailed that the WRAP Certificate No. 140034 is valid from June 12, 2026, to June 12, 2027. It was awarded following a rigorous independent audit of the company's operations, which include fabric receiving, cutting, sewing, finishing, pressing, packing, quality control, and dispatch activities at its Savelugu facility.
The certification affirms that the company complies with internationally accepted standards for ethical manufacturing, workplace safety, labor rights, environmental responsibility, and responsible business conduct. WRAP is recognised as the world's largest independent certification program dedicated to ethical and socially responsible manufacturing in the apparel, footwear, and sewn products sectors. It evaluates facilities against 12 key principles including lawful and humane labor practices, prohibition of child and forced labor, freedom of association, fair compensation, workplace health and safety, responsible working hours, environmental compliance, customs regulations, and ethical business practices.
The statement described the certification as a significant accomplishment for the company and Ghana's industrial sector. It emphasized that the certification serves as an independent confirmation of the quality and ethics of the company's daily operations, positioning garments made in Savelugu as responsibly and ethically produced, capable of competing globally.
Additionally, the statement highlighted that the certification would strengthen the company's credibility among international buyers, sourcing firms, development partners, and institutions seeking responsible manufacturing partners and ethically compliant supply chains. The achievement demonstrates that world-class apparel manufacturing can be successfully undertaken in northern Ghana while maintaining international standards of quality, worker welfare, and environmental stewardship.
The development also holds significant implications for employment generation in northern Ghana, with the potential to employ up to 10,000 workers. The company is expected to become one of the region's largest industrial employers, creating opportunities for youth, women, and persons with disabilities, including members of the deaf community. The company's operations are anticipated to contribute to increased export earnings, local economic growth, and round-the-clock productivity while supporting Ghana's broader industrial transformation objectives.
