Nkwanta south: Mr Stephen Obikyenbi Jr., an aspirant for the position of Communication Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nkwanta South Constituency, says integrity, effective staffing, and measurable impact would form the foundation of his leadership if retained in office.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Obikyenbi stated that his vision focused on credible and consistent communication, strengthening constituency communication structures, and engaging stakeholders strategically to project the policies and achievements of the party. He emphasized the importance of political communication as a critical tool in modern democratic governance, requiring individuals who are disciplined, articulate, accessible, and capable of defending party policies with facts and clarity.
Mr Obikyenbi asserted that the communication wing of the party must not only respond to issues but also proactively shape public discourse to inspire confidence among supporters and the general electorate. He highlighted the creation of a more active and coordinated communication network within the constituency as a key priority.
He explained that many polling areas and electoral zones had committed party faithful who required guidance, training, and motivation to become effective grassroots communicators. Equipping young communicators with skills in media engagement, political messaging, digital communication, and community mobilisation would enhance the party's visibility and improve voter engagement ahead of future elections.
Mr Obikyenbi stated that under his leadership, the communication team would prioritise issue-based political engagement rather than personal attacks and misinformation, stressing that credibility and professionalism were essential in winning public trust. He further emphasized that unity within the party could be strengthened through constant interaction, transparency, and mutual respect among members, particularly at the constituency and electoral area levels.
He underscored the role of communication officers as a bridge between party leadership and grassroots supporters to ensure that concerns and ideas were appropriately addressed. Mr Obikyenbi also highlighted the growing influence of social media in political communication and pledged to use digital platforms responsibly to promote the achievements, programmes, and vision of the NPP, while countering misinformation with factual narratives.
He noted that the NPP in the Nkwanta South Constituency had made significant contributions to development and deserved an effective communication strategy to highlight its achievements to the public. Mr Obikyenbi expressed confidence in the discernment of delegates and appealed for their continued support, promising to work diligently to enhance the image and electoral fortunes of the party if retained as Communication Officer.
