Newborn Baby Abandoned at Konromoase Cemetery Shocks Residents

Kumasi: Residents of Konkroamoase near Atasomanso in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region are in shock after discovering a newly born baby abandoned at a cemetery in the area. The newborn baby boy was found at the cemetery on Monday, April 6, 2026, sparking concern and outrage among residents.

According to Ghana Web, residents who rushed to the scene described the incident as heartbreaking. "It was a small bundle wrapped in a cloth, and when we opened it, we saw the baby boy crying," said one resident. The unexpected discovery has left the community in disbelief and prompted calls for action.

The Atasomanso Electoral Area Assembly Member, Abdul Samid, popularly known as Opele, expressed sadness over the incident, stating, "It's a very sad and unfortunate incident. As a leader, I'm deeply concerned about the welfare of our community, and this act is unacceptable." Opele confirmed that the case has been reported to the Kronkromase Police Station.

"We've reported the matter to the police, and they're investigating. We urge anyone with information to come forward and help us find the mother," Opele added. The authorities are currently focusing on ensuring the baby's safety and health while seeking public assistance to locate the mother.
